What’s Your Favorite Low Cal /Healthy Snack?

I love snacking! Back in the day, it was Twinkies, Yodels, cheese fries and candy bars that kept me in trouble. I could do Snickers and 3 Musketeer bars all day long! Well, now that I no longer have the metabolism of a 14 year old, I just had to let those goodies go! (and tearfully, I might add!)

The Strength Training Wars: Pilates vs. Kettlebells

Branching out beyond the adorable-yet-small-thinking tiny tots with their eyes all aglow crowd, Santa Claus made a pit stop at the YMCA this year. In an effort to reach an older and more lucrative crowd, while coal was not on the agenda – although I’m sure the resourceful and charitable Y folk would have found some use for it that would not have ended in pollution (new class! Functional fitness by pitching coal!) – lots of good fitness girls and boys were rewarded with exercise toys galore. A full line of TRXs were hung by the chimney with care and visions of kettlebells danced in the air. (And that, friends, is the closest to poetry I will ever get. I hope you enjoyed it.)

Use Your Passions to Get and Stay Fit

Exercise isn’t always about hitting the gym, jogging, lifting weights or hopping up on the treadmill. Most times, we do these things because we know we should…not necessarily because we love doing them. Truthfully, running on the treadmill for me is not fun. I call it “40 minutes of hell”. I’ll do it, but you won’t see me laughing and smiling about it until it’s over! ;)
